Experiential Learning
Practical experience that’s practically unmatched.
We believe experiencing is foundational to learning. So you’ll be applying what you learn right away—in class and out.
Big city, bigger classroom
Indianapolis is the 14th-largest city in the United States. When you plant your flag here, you’ll do it alongside major healthcare organizations and tech firms, fast-growing startups, and lots of other companies, big and small. When we forge partnerships with those businesses, you’ll get a lot from the relationship. But it’s a two-way street: Butler know-how has fueled Indianapolis’ growth for generations. We’re an integral part of the city. And enthusiastic, ready-to-go people like you are part of the reason why Indianapolis is regularly ranked among the best places for young professionals to live and work.
Hands-On Learning in Action
View AllThrough Butler’s Washington, DC Learning Semester, students can live, learn, and intern in the nation’s capital. Interning for Cornerstone Government Affairs, a bipartisan consulting firm, Millie Foley ’24 is learning how fiscal policy develops.
Working as WFYI’s news team’s Digital Content Intern, Leah Ollie ’25, says she is thankful for the opportunity to immerse herself in a public media newsroom. Working alongside other journalists, she is inspired to be an effective communicator, sharing her own stories in The Butler Collegian and upon graduation.
Since he was young, Patrick Dowell ’24 hoped his future career would involve hands-on, creative work. Now interning for Phelps Creative House, he works on post-production and graphic design projects, even traveling with the team for video shoots.
We’re known for providing students with numerous opportunities to experience new places and cultures.
